Traveled along the Varosa River, which is born here, the municipality of Tarouca presents, uniting the banks of its main watercourse, several bridges of medieval origin, in places of great scenic beauty.
The most notable is undoubtedly the Ucanha bridge, whose origins probably go back to the Roman period. The proof of its antiquity is to be cited as old even before 1146, in the letter of donation from Gouviães by D. Afonso Henriques his Monteiro-Mor, Paio Cortês.
