Waiheke is the second largest island in the Hauraki Gulf. Taking a ferry from Auckland you will reach Waiheke in just under one hour. There are more than 30 vineyards on the island. The island is also famous for its beaches. The white sands and calm waters of the sunny, north facing main beach in Oneroa is a sought-after destination for locals and visitors alike. Mind you – on the southern hemisphere north facing means pleasantly sunny – most of the year. Our panorama was taken in the evening – but the beach still attracted some visitors.
