This is summer in Summer Lane a narrow road which connects the village suburb of Combe Down with Monkton Combe. On the other side of the road is a glorious view across Wiltshire to Salisbury Plain in the distance.
In Roman Times, these southern slopes were planted with vines and there is evidence of a farmhouse nearby.
Cherry Blossom is one of glorious sights in gardens in the late spring. It is not a native tree. It originates in Japan. Many people consider it to be Britain's best blossom.
