Castle ruin Aggstein - court in the rock
Wachau

This approximately 4 meter wide path was completely hewn from the natural rock. The rock that had been quarried out of the rock was immediately used again as building material for the castle. On the north-west side of the courtyard towards the chapel, the rock was removed to a depth of up to 6 metres. This corresponds approximately to the height of the entrance in the middle of the front of the core castle rising in front of us.

More About Wachau

Quelle: http://www.wachau-dunkelsteinerwald.at/wachau.html
