This panorama provides a view of Cayucos State Beach and the Cayucos Pier, all located in the town of Cayucos on California’s central coast. The town’s founder, Captain James Cass, had the pier built back in 1872. For decades, it was the center of commerce for the area, with ships from San Francisco and Los Angeles carrying passengers and goods in and out of the town on a regular basis. As other forms of shipping and transportation came into dominance over the years, the pier evolved into a sport fishing hub and a treasured local landmark.
