Despite the Earthquake of 2011 is a beauty among the cities of New Zealand. The strong determination of the people of Christchurch to rebuild their city is admirable. Christchurch Art Gallery Te Puna o Waiwhetu was opened in May 2003. It was used as Civil Defence head quarters following the earth quakes in 2010 and 2011. In December 2015 it was reopened as an Art Gallery. The sculpture “Reason for Voyaging” was designed by Graham Bennett and David Cole.
