Dinorwic slate quarry - heaps of slate rubble
Wales
The slate that was left over after explosions or the pieces that could just not be used were dumped along the original hillside. Some of those slate rubble hills are up to 100m high and cover the wholes area around the slate quarry. More info on the Dinorwich slate quarry can be found under http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dinorwic_Quarry
