Este é um lagar de azeite arcaico, pertencente ao maior proprietário de Idanha-a-Velha, era operado por pessoal especializado, e fazia extração do azeite vindo de várias regiões como Ribatejo, Alentejo, Serra do Montemuro, mas principalmente das serras nortenhas, como a do Barroso.
É um dos exemplares mais requintados que se encontram em Portugal, em que se destaca a qualidade dos materiais e a elobaração das formas, designadamente dos alguergues, bloco fornalha, câmaras de decantação e pavimentos.
O gado que accionava as galgas era da própria casa agícola.
As varas das prensas eram arrancadas nos montados do latifundio e transportadas sobre rodado puxado por várias juntas de bois.
Este modelo de lagar era o mais corrente no país nos meados deste século. Em 1939, existiam 3.737 moinhos de galgas, isto é 45%. Em 1948 o número de prensas de varas era de 4.705, corresponde a 41%. No último ano em que laburou este lagar, em 1959, produziu 19.000 litros de azeite.
Existem duas possibilidades de data de construção deste Lagar: séc. XVIII (uma tulha tem gravada a data de 1755) , ou finais do séc.XIX (uma candeia com a data 1895 gravada)
Divide-se hoje em três salas :
sala das tulhas de pio (tulhas para guardar a azeitona e pio de granito para a moagem)
sala da bagaceira (câmaras de decantação)
Os palheiros (num dos quais se encontra a porta de serviço) serviam de abrigo aos lagareiros e aos animais que moviam as galgas.
