Iglesia San Sebastián de Panguipulli

Panguipulli (from Mapudungun pangipülli, "Cougar land", or maybe pangipüllü "Cougar spirit", the etymon of origin is uncertain, because the Mapuche language has a vocal that Castilian) is a municipality located in the province Valdivia, in the Los Ríos Region XIV. Integra along with the communes of Futrono, Lago Ranco, Los Lagos, Paillaco, Rio Bueno and La Union Precinct No. 54 and belongs to the 16th Senatorial District.


It has a population of 32,617 inhabitants (2012 census preleminar1) and an area of ​​3.332km ². It borders the districts of Villarrica, Los Lagos, Lanco and Futrono as well as Argentina. Panguipulli is also known as the "Commune of Seven Lakes", since in its territory the lakes Calafquén Pullinque, Pellaifa, Neltume Riñihue, Pirihueico and Panguipulli, whose bank is the town of the same name, header commune.
