Nestling amongst the trees, beside the River Porter in Endcliffe Park is the memorial to the B17 Flying Fortress "Mi Amigo" and to its crew who all perished when their aircraft crashed nearby on 22nd February 1944. A memorial service is held here each year to commerate the the crew.
The memorial plaque reads:
Erected by Sheffield RAF Association in memory of
The ten crew of U.S.A.A.F Bomber which crashed in this park 22.2.1944
"Per Ardua Ad Astra"
