Inversion weather conditions are quite common in winter in the Black Forest. Dense fog in the Rhine valley and warm, sunny weather in the higher regions, here near Geiersnest, a small hill on the southwestern slope of the Schauinsland, Freiburg's local mountain.

There is another panorama from the same place a few minutes earlier with the sunset.
