Railway Station in Kaniva
Victoria

Panorama of the train tracks and Railway Station of Kaniva, Victoria, Australia. The Railway Station was built in 1887 on the Dimboola Serviceton line. Despite showing signs of neglect the station has been classified as historically and architecturally significant as key contributor to the character of the "Western" line. The station once catered for the heavily trafficked line between Melbourne and Adelaide and included a large booking lobby and waiting room.

Kaniva was gazetted in 1885 and the arrival of the railway in 1886 contributed to the towns growth and survival. Today the town on the Western Highway is a major service town for surrounding farms and a welcome stopover for travellers between Adelaide in South Australia and Melbourne in Victoria.
