Construite par Théodore Ballu de 1862 à 1865 dans le style néo-roman, l’église paroissiale Saint-Denys d’Argenteuil, devenue basilique mineure en 1898, abrite une série importante d’objets d’art, protégés au titre des Monuments historiques. Grâce à un financement en partie public, la devise républicaine « Liberté – Égalité – Fraternité » est inscrite sur le fronton, avant les lois de séparation de l’église et de l’État (1905). Le grand orgue de tribune, réalisé en 1867, est l’un des plus importants du Val-d’Oise et l’un des deux grands instruments construits par le facteur francilien Louis Suret. L’instrument comportant trois claviers de 56 notes et un pédalier de 32 notes avec 43 jeux a été restauré en 2008-2009.
