The source Serra Vespaiata is nicknamed "The golden words" for the brass
covered certain writings of the monumental aqueduct built between 1823 and 1851 by the royal architect Lorenzo Nottolini, commissioned by the Duchess Maria Luisa of Bourbon, to provide drinking water to the city of Lucca.
