The New Lighthouse, Dungeness, Kent
England

The New Lighthouse became operational in 1961. The tower, which is fully automatic, is floodlit at night to help identification from seaward.

Dungeness is a large headland jutting out into the English Channel from the Kent coast. The unique landscape of low-lying shingle is classified as a desert and is designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest. As if that wasn't surreal enough the area is peppered with dozens of small dwellings, lighthouses and a nuclear power station.
