Via Ferrata site in Les Orres
Hautes Alpes

Via Ferrata is a new form of rock climbing.

While Rock climbing is performed on natural cliffs that are not equipped or equipped with only few rings for fixing the ropes, the via ferratas are much more equipped.

With a load of cables, metallic steps, etc... it make it easy for un xperimented climbers to get a taste of vertical rock climbing.

Via Ferrata means literally the ironed path in italian.

It was originally "invented" by the italian army that used to put these equipments in the hardest parts of the mountains to allow its soldiers to pass through cliffs that would not have been passable otherwise.

This specific via ferrata is in the Southern French Alps near Embrun by a ski resort called "Les Orres".
