Vieux-Thann, Saint-Dominique, Exterior 2
Alsace

The original church was built in 991 A.D.. The basement of the tower and St Michael's Chapel date from the 12th and 13th century. In the year 1376 during Hundred Year's War the church was heavily damaged by English troops. In 1399 the nave was rebuilt in Gothic style. The choir was built in the 15th century in Late Gothic style. Until 1389 Saint-Dominique was the main church of Thann. During World War I the church was damaged again and restored from 1919 to 1925. In 1945 the bell gable was replaced with a gable turret.
