The wreckage of a RAF Catalina flying boat that crashed on the slopes of Heiseabhal Beag in 1944. Three of the nine crew were killed.

The tiny island of Vatersay is home to fewer than 100 inhabitants. It is the southern-most populated island in the Outer Hebrides. Since 1991 it has had a permanent link to Barra via a causeway, providing access to the daily ferry service to the Scottish mainland.
