This panorama was shot within the confines of Battery Spencer. You can see the north tower of the Golden Gate Bridge just beyond the battery. Battery Spencer, like all of the sunken ramparts around the Bay Area, was built to protect the entrance to San Francisco back in the mid to late 1800s. Each was heavily armed to defend the nation's bomming Gold Rush city.
