Master Sheng-yen has openly encouraged researchers of the Institute to move towards internationalization. The students and faculty of the Institute come from all parts of the world, and overseas scholars regularly to visit to conduct research.

Due to the focus on Sanskrit, Pali, and Tibetan language, graduates of the Institute who pursue further studies abroad are warmly received. The Institute has invited the former director of the department of Buddhist Studies in Rissho University, Professor Kenyo Mitomo and the chairman of the Social Science Academy professor Yang Tzen-wen to teach for one semester in 2002.
