Justinianus Bac Bridge Tarsus Vr Mersin 679
Turkey
Even though the bridge located on the north of Tarsus entrance by Adana-Ankara Highway is said to have twenty-one arches in the past, only three arches can be seen today. It was constructed over Tarsus (Berdan) Stream in the 6th century AD during the rule of the Byzantine Emperor justinianus. As bridge tolls were collected in the past, the bridge is also called “Baç” (literally: tribute). The bridge, which was renovated by the Seljuk Empire, is not used any.
