Looking out from inside the bandstand (kiosco) in the center of the main plaza (jardin), in the Pacific coast village of La Manzanilla in Jalisco state, Mexico. Taken during the middle of the rainy season (September), as seen in the green hillsides in the distance. The village church is east, and the Bay of Tenecatita is to the west.
This beautiful bandstand features plaster sculptures of various sealife on all the support posts, and the roof has the form of a gaint clam shell.
This plaza is the scene of a popular annual fiesta from August 6-15 when the church celebrates its patron saint Maria Ascuncion with twice-daily processions, frequent loud skyrockets, and culminating with a fireworks tower (castillo) on the last evening. Now the plaza is quiet again until the next fiesta.
