The area is named after the Italian architect Gae Aulenti and designer (1927-2012), author of numerous projects, the famous large-scale museum projects such as the reconstruction of the Orsay Museum and the Modern Art Gallery at the Centre Pompidou in Paris, the Palazzo Grassi in Venice, the Academy of Sciences in Berlin, Asian Art museum of San Francisco, the National art Museum of Catalonia in Barcelona and many others.
