I am standing at the intersection of the beach road (Thawewong Rd.) and the Pub Street (Bangla) in Patong on Phuket Island, Thailand. As the sun goes down the local police block off either end of the Pub Street turning it into a crowded walking street full of small and large bars, clubs of all kinds, and various forms of entertainment, it is not uncommon to see Elvis performing (well a Thai Elvis anyway). The party on Pub Street can stretch well into the early morning with some of the bars staying open later than 3 or 4 in the morning.
