The South Summit of Mount Jefferson, at 11,941 feet (3640 meters), is the highest peak in Nye County, Nevada.  The view from atop the mountain is beautiful, you can peak over the tops of all the surrounding mountains like they were low rocky fences. 

The top of the mountain is a vast plateau where we had hoped to spend a couple of days camping and roaming around.  Unfortunately, thunderstorms on several sides of the mountain compelled us to climb down before we'd had the chance to explore the whole plateau; we'll just have to come back again!
