The sumptuous villa that Emperor Tiberius built in Sperlonga, right in front of the sea, was in part made up of a natural marine cave that was transformed into a banquet room abundantly decorated with large and stately statues depicting legendary scenes from Homer's "Adventures of Odysseus". Many of these works have been carefully reconstructed and can be admired in the nearby Archaeological Museum, specially designed to guard them.
