Turaida (in Lives language it means “Garden of God”) is a castle of early Gothic style. It is surrounded by a splendid landscape of Gauja National Park and is settled between two ravines of Gauja River. The castle is a part of beautiful, world-wide known Turaida Museum Reserve (the only Museum Reserve in Latvia). Tourists there can really feel like these ancient Latvian people living their everyday life as surroundings of historical architecture and picturesque landscapes as well as real old stories that local guides tell, create a very realistic atmosphere.
