One of the many war cemetaries in Poland. Soldiers from two opposing armies lay here. One tomb is marked "Russischer Krieger" ("Russian Warrior"). It's the only "enemy" among a number of dead with names alluding to various ethnicities from the Austro-Hungarian Bazaar. I thought it's silly to call this man a Russian Warrior. Most likely he was a peasant, a factory worker or a teacher and didn't ask to go to Southern Poland to be killed there.
The hills around this place are mellow, the roads riddled with potholes around the border but tidy otherwise. We saw an eagle on the hill. I shot this panorama yesterday (april 21, 2011).
