Monsenhor Cândido Azevedo, no livro “Sernancelhe, Casa da Comenda”, editado pelo Município de Sernancelhe em 1999, descreve-os da seguinte forma: “(A Casa da Comanda) situada no Centro Histórico de Sernancelhe, e com a futura Biblioteca e o artístico e altaneiro pelourinho em frente; a admirada e invejada Igreja Medieval ao lado; o Palácio dos Carvalhos (Marquês de Pombal) a nascente; o Auditório Municipal – antigo Palácio dos Corteses e Câmara Municipal – a deslado; e as ruinas veneradas do Palácio dos Soverais ao norte: enquadra-se num raro conjunto de Monumentos cheios de grandeza e carregados de história e arte, que lhe dão um ambiente de superior encanto e um halo de carinho e pulcritude que transportam às regiões do sonho e aos páramos de felicidade”.
