The Svjatogorsky monastery became Pushkin's last terrestrial shelter. 6/18 February, 1837 after doleful requiem in a southern side-altar of the Uspensky cathedral, served by archimandrite Gennady, a body of the poet have been betrayed to the earth at an altar wall. After four years on a tomb the marble monument, custom-made Pushkin's widow and guardianship by the Petersburg master of monumental affairs A.M.Permogorovym has been established. On it an inscription: "Alexander Sergeevich Pushkin was born in Moscow on May, 26th, 1799, has died in S.-Peterburge on January, 29th, 1837."

In 1924 the monastery has been closed.

Many monastic structures have seriously suffered during the Great Patriotic War, others as Nikolsky a temple, have appeared completely are destroyed.

The Uspensky cathedral has been restored in 1949. The exposition devoted stories of a monastery, to A.S.Pushkina's creativity, duel, death and funeral of the poet Here has opened.

In 1992 the Piously-Uspensky Svjatogorsky monastery has been returned in termless and gratuitous using of Russian Orthodox Church. On May, 29th with the assistance of Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia Alex II services in its Uspensky cathedral are solemnly renewed. Today it is a cathedral operating, and its territory is shared by Pushkin reserve and the Diocese. In a monastery lives about 25 novices and monks (during Pushkin time in a monastery there lived 10 persons). Monks process the monastic earths, are engaged in agriculture. The Sunday church school works. On blessing of the deputy monks accept pilgrims.
