The Island Fire occurred in the Marble Mountain Wilderness near Sawyers Bar, California during the summer of 2017 from lightning.  It was a high-intensity burn that charred through the forest around English Peak & left no undergrowth untouched.  Here is the view a year later w/ areas still lacking plant growth & plenty of gravelly sooty erosion.
