重庆老君洞位于南岸区上新街以东约2千米的山上，系南山风景区景点之一。老君洞始建于唐代，原名广化寺，为佛教寺庙，明万历九年（1581年）改为道观，名“太极宫”（俗称“老君洞”）。清道光、同治、光绪年间几经培修扩建，先后共建殿宇九重，曰：三清殿、文武殿、观音殿、吕祖殿、真武殿、三丰殿、邱祖殿、斗姆殿、玉皇殿。各殿结构精巧，依山造殿，凿崖成像。老君洞道观内多崖刻佛道故事图像，其中以九龙碑和八难岩两处石刻浮雕最具艺术价值。
