City Railway Station "Rathaus-Süd" (City Hall-South), Bochum, Germany
Germany
Pictures taken in the morning in an almost empty station. When I was just starting with first pictures, I was contacted by railway staff through an announcement (by using the intercommunication system). They told me, that it is only allowed to take photos, when I have an official approval by local "Bogestra" (responsible for Bochum and Gelsenkirchen railway and buses). As I optained the approval before by mail I did not react at all (how, they were just using the loudspeaker in the station to contact me...), as I thought, they will come to me, if they like to see the approval. I decided to just take more photos. Ten minutes later I was contacted again. "Special announcement for the man with the camera. You are only allowed to take photos, with a special approval". I nodded and took out the paper from my trouser pocket and motioned with it. "Ah, you have an approval?" I gave them a thumb up. "Okay, have fun!" So I was accompanied by cameras when being there :-) Even when it was a bit embarrassing for me, it was also fun to use this two-way communication with the staff there. I would have been shocked, if they would asked me to hold the permission into camera, so they can take a closer look, what is written there... Big brother is watching you everywhere.

More About Germany

Germany? Before the beginning there was Ginnungagap, an empty space of nothingness, filled with pure creative power. (Sort of like the inside of my head.)And it ends with Ragnarok, the twilight of the Gods. In between is much fighting, betrayal and romance. Just as a good Godly story should be.Heroes have their own graveyard called Valhalla. Unfortunately we cannot show you a panorama of it at this time, nor of the lovely Valkyries who are its escort service.Hail Odin, wandering God wielding wisdom and wand! Hail Freya, hail Tyr, hail Thor!Odin made the many lakes and the fish in them. In his traverses across the lands he caused there to be the Mulheim Bridge in Cologne, as did he make the Mercury fountain, Mercury being of his nature. But it is to the mighty Thor that the Hammering Man gives service.Between the time of the Nordic old ones and that of modern Frankfort there may have been a T.Rex or two on the scene. At least some mastodons for sure came through for lunch, then fell into tar pits to become fossils for us to find. And there we must leave you, O my most pure and holy children.Text by Steve Smith.
