Cuartel de Ballaja was the last and largest building constructed by the Spaniards in the New World. Originally built for lodging of military personnel. During the Second World War it was used as a military hospital known as Rodriguez Hospital starting in 1943. It is being used as The Museum of the Americas since 1992.
