巍峨聳立於美濃區的東門樓，相傳於1755年由原東柵門改建而成，至今有兩百三十多年歷史，高雄縣政府於2000年指定為縣級古蹟，是美濃人長久以來的精神指標。東門樓高度約十公尺，護城河與東門樓構成衛護昔日瀰濃庄聚落東側的主要屏障。1895年日治初期曾毀於六堆義民軍與日軍交戰的砲火中，1937年重建為現今樓高二層、鋼骨水泥的樣貌。門樓正面高懸「大啟文明」的橫額，乃是模擬當地進士之題字，見證了美濃承古迄今的變遷。
