Situated about 800m south of Rough Tor on Bodmin Moor, the Fernacre stone circle is full of atmosphere. Originally there were about 70 stones, but now only about 30 remain standing and of those most are quite small as they are embedded deeply in the peat. At approximately 45m in diameter it is one of the largest stone circles in Cornwall. It is one of a group of three circles to the south and west of Rough Tor, the other two being Stannon and Louden Hill. The stone circles on Bodmin Moor date from the late neolithic to the middle bronze age (2400-1000bce).
