梓官區紅樹林茄苳溪保護區，於1992年劃定，委由蚵寮國中管理，並規劃為紅樹林教學園區。紅樹林也叫潮汐林，這種濕地可以維持物種的多樣性，具有高度的生態價值。沿著棧道可以觀賞以海茄苳為主的紅樹林，水筆仔也很多，還有兩棵珍貴的五跤梨。此外，泥沼地有招潮蟹、彈塗魚的蹤跡；各類鷗鷺也棲息在此，構成一個理想的生態教學區。
