Joan Miro bought Son Boter in 1959 with the intention of having a second painting and sculpture studio, as well as greater intimicity. Son Boter is an estate with a Mallorcan style house dating from the end of the 18th century, providing Miro with an envirement that reminded him of people's origins and connected him with their culture.
