Little Moab, Utah County, Utah, USA
Utah

This outcrop of rock is popular with off-road vehicle fans who like to crawl the surface in specially equipped jeeps, trucks and OHVs.  The locals call the area Little Moab after the great expanses of slick rock in southern Utah.

The white rock is rhyolitic welded tuff, a mix of extrusive igneous rock mixed with volcanic ash that cooled on the surface after an eruption.  The outcrop resembles the larger White Rocks formation just north of this location.  White Rocks formed of intrusive igneous rock that cooled beneath the ground to form granite.  Both have rough surfaces with large pellet-sized quartz pieces here and there.
