Meili Snow Mountain, located in the east of Qaru County in Xizang Province and Deqin County in Yunnan Province, is a huge north-south snow mountain group, with a total length of 150 kilometers. Meili Snow Mountain has strong fault activity and high terrain. The highest peak, Kawagbo Peak, is 6,740 meters above sea level, which is an extremely high mountain protrating nearly 1,000 meters above the top of the surrounding mountains. There are 13 surrounding peaks over 6,000 meters above sea level surrounding kawagbo Peak, which is the highest mountain in the southeastern margin of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.
Kavagbo's lofty beauty and sacred position in religion have attracted numerous tourists and mountaineers from home and abroad. Since the beginning of the 20th century, however, every major mountaineering effort has ended in failure. It has been more than 50 years since human beings reached the earth's 8,000-meter-high altitude. In half a century, although mountaineers have conquered more than a dozen of the world's 8,000-meter-high peaks one after another, paying one life after another in one impact, however, Kawagbo, 6,740 meters above sea level, is still the "virgin peak" that has not been conquered by mankind.
