妙通寺位於六龜區寶來里，1981年，廣欽老和尚派遣弟子至此設立承天禪寺的分院，為南部知名的佛教聖地。四周群山圍繞，荖濃溪蜿蜒於溪谷中，山水錯落的景觀特別富有靈氣。寺內景觀規劃井然，除了佛殿之外，還有蓮池、樓閣等，花木扶疏，透著莊嚴肅穆的氣氛，彷彿是人間的「極樂妙境」。妙通寺香火鼎盛，許多民眾來禮佛參拜。寺前有小型的市集，販賣在地農產品。
