Pinsk. The Polessye Theatre of Drama
It is hard to pass by the Polessye Theatre of Drama placed right in Pinsk historic centre. The building was erected almost 100 years ago in 1911-1912 by an affluent Pinsk citizen David Boyarsky and a new Pink cinema named “Casino” was opened in November 1912.
The cinema was a success. Its owners often travelled abroad as they wished to present the newest movies in “Casino” and wanted their cinema to be technically up-to-date. In the 1940s the cinema got a new name - “Rodina” (“Motherland”) and worked till the middle of 1990s. At the beginning of the 21st century town administration decided to place here the Polessye Theatre of Drama and the building was reconstructed.
The Polessye Theatre of Drama was officially opened in March 2006.
Both the exterior and the interior make the visitors feel festive due to unique lace-like rampart, tiny “theatre square”, the stairs. The foyer is festively lit by chandeliers, 110-eats audience hall is very cosy.
Brilliant actor team works here. All the shows are always success and one can often see a "sold out" notice at the box office. All the shows are always success and one can often see a "sold out" notice at the box office.
