Colonne du mémorial  -  XXe siècle  -  Sculpteur : Armande Marty  -  Granit (H. : 35 m)  -  Vestiges de la ferme de Richemont

Armande Marty, sculpteur née à Paris, est l'élève d'un assistant de Rodin. Elle est l'épouse de Gaston Marty, professeur à l'Ecole des beaux-arts de Bordeaux, et passe ainsi soixante ans de sa vie dans cette ville. Elle a saisi le sens du sacrifice de ces jeunes gens et l'exprime dans la pierre en y sculptant les quatre vertus qui ont nourri leur idéal : la foi, le courage, le sacrifice et la victoire. La stèle, haute de 35 mètres est érigée au milieu d'un site naturel, loin de tout habitat.
