Of the 200 original limestone columns mentioned in ancient sources, only 33 are still erect in the columnar street of the Antique City of Soli in Mezitli District, Mersin. These columns are dated to the 2nd and 3rd century AD. Some of the column caps designed in Corinthian order have figures carved on them. Besides, it is understood from the epitaphs placed on some of the columns that cantilevers facing the street bore the statues of the Roman emperors or high-ranking administrators.
