St. Andrews is home of St. Andrews University – oldest university in Scotland and third oldest university in the UK – just after Oxbridge. St. Andrews is also known as home of golf. On every Sunday in term there is a pier walk on the pier of the harbor – out on the lower side, back in on the higher side – quite nice in spring and summer – sometimes challenging in autumn and winter. The small ruins at the bench are the rest of the Church of St. Mary on the Rocks.
