St. Andrews - Cathedral Ruins, Top of St. Rule’s Tower
Scotland
St. Andrews is home of St. Andrews University – oldest university in Scotland and third oldest university in the UK – just after Oxbridge. St. Andrews is also known as home of golf. St. Andrews Cathedral was built in the 12th century in gothic style. The Scottish Reformation banned Roma-Catholic mass –the building was plundered and fell into disuse. Well it eventually was used again as a quarry for quite a few houses. St. Rule’s Tower was built as the tower for an older church and somehow survived reformation. The view from the top of the tower is magnificent.
