The museum, which is located in Taşucu Town in Silifke District, Mersin, was founded as a private museum subject to the supervision of Ministry of Culture and Tourism upon donation of the collection of amphorae and other clay pieces to the foundation by Arslan EYCE, the president of Foundation of Education and Protecting the Natural Life in Taşucu. The museum, where about 300 pieces of amphorae and other earthenware are on display, is particularly important in terms of types of amphorae used in naval trade in the Mediterranean Sea.
