台灣初歸清代版圖，康熙二十三年（一六八四）。設協鎮台灣水師轄中左右三營，俱駐防於安平鎮雍正十一年（一七三三），總督郝玉麟奏准就安平鎮內建倉貯（粟三萬石，交營收管，遞年礱米給兵），為「軍裝局」之始。乾隆五十三年（一七八八）協鎮左營移駐鹿仔港，所用海防砲有二千四百斤、二千斤、一千五百斤、一千斤、八百斤、六百斤、五百斤、四百斤等多種，此砲係嘉慶十九年（一八一四）協鎮台灣水師所鑄。
