Former Campo do Forno, then Praça da Rainha and now Praça da República. New civic center of the city, after the century. This former square was the point of convergence of the arteries of the village, the transport network, the products of the region, which emerged at that time as a driving force for administrative functions. The battlements building was the Headquarters of the Municipality. In this square there was a daily market, with the trade of bread made in the Arcada da Sede do Municipio, and that of vegetables in Praça das Couves, where the Malheiro Reimão chapel is now.
